Military OrganizationsA query of what units participated in Operation Torch (invasion of North Africa in WW II) would yield a pretty comprehensive list. The same is true of Operation Husky (Invasion of Sicily in WW II), and the Battle of Midway. The same is also true for several of the major battles of the Civil War, including Gettysburg. Former Army Air Corps/Army Air Force units are generally shown as Air Force units for the sake of continuity. However, there are exceptions, and I'm sure I haven't been consistent. Many support units, such some as quartermaster and MP companies, are shown as Army units even though known to have served with 8th Air Force during World War II, for example. PART ONE.
